I've gone to watch the world premiere of the action/comedy movie starring the legendary pro wrestling PCO (Carl Ouellet) and his manager/"creator" D.Destro (Michel Roy). Before starting the movie, the team behind the production, the 4th dimension did introduce us to their genre of making, "particular" movie that would get hard time in movie festival, but that indeed got a good audience among people who like when things are different. Which, of course, for me it's always a good omen to say the least. Since, I hate when things are generic. And after, PCO and Destro came in front they present the basis of their movie. And then, well, we were introduced by the a teaser (they said trailer, but it was more a teaser) of an incoming documentary about the full career of PCO. Which, gave a great mood/atmosphere to prepare us to the craziness that was about come right to us in our face like it would in a Jean-Claude Van Damme's movie.
So then, started the movie! A movie that the intro acting style reminded me pretty much Grand Theft Auto V with a kind of sarcastic humor behind ludicrous bloody action scenes. It might look bad the way I say it, but when we know the character of PCO, it was awesome since it fit perfectly his style. So it was hilarious. Hilariously bad or not, it doesn't matter there. What that matters it how things stack, so the more the story advances, the more we were then going to a El Santo movie style, where PCO is not only not human, but he does have a mission to save mankind from the crime from gangsters who always fail but seems to have unlimited budget while paradoxically himself he wasn't less suspicious than them. But hey, he's on the "good" side, he destroys the bad! PCO is GREAT, HA! HA! HA! Which, we were then introduced with a ton of scenes and dark references to a certain DARK book. Yes, THAT mysterious DARK book we always wondered what it was about in little skits D.Destro made with PCO in the past. Now in the movie, you might finally understand how it works... Well, what the HUMAN in you can understand, since despite the mystery unravelled, it still too much for us to fully comprehend how it works. All we must understand is that PCO's power comes from that DARK book! And yes, at the end, despite he finally vanquishes the main foe, something felt incomplete... Since there is a realization that maybe that the enemy he was fighting was actually a pawn... Or should we understand it differently? Well, maybe a sequel to that movie might make it clearer! Because yes, I would be highly interested to see a sequel to this hilariously monstrous production, that ends up to perfectly the job of what it aimed. Pumping us to the max while having an over-the-top sadistic experience that make us laugh due to the extreme absurdity.
So at the end of the movie, all the team that worked on the movie came to talk about the behind the scene. About how it was actually a big challenge to have made this movie, since it was mainly might during the peak of the covid when there were so many restrictions. Injury that happened while PCO was sent to hospital with D.Destro in a hearse, which led to general panic around since people though they were bringing a dead man to the hospital and many little cool anecdotes that make that movie even more epic.
My note: 9/10 Yes, despite being a Z movie-type, it fully achieved its objective and worth every single milisecond. And, I'm pretty much sure the rest of the crowd at this premiere would agree with this!
